Foundation is like Spanx for the face

Before getting married I went into a frenzy and bought so much makeup (as if I'd never be able to purchase them again!). I didn't just purchase my usual products or my favourites; infact, I bought products from brands that I hadn't used before, or products that I had heard of but never came around to actually buying them.

I tried and tested both drugstore and premium foundations and some were clear winners and some were a disaster.

There are lots of things you need to keep in your mind when you are out buying a foundation. For example; Knowing your shade (if you don't know then you can ask an assistant in the shop), your skin type (some foundations may not suit your skin in comparison to other products) and having an idea of which products have good reviews and bad.

Here are my Top 3 Foundations

1. Born This Way, Too Faced Foundation

I absolutely adore this product. Born This Way is an oil-free foundation that has been infused with Coconut Water that replenishes the moisture levels in the skin without over hydrating for a more radiant look.

When you apply the foundation, it has a medium coverage. But if you prefer full coverage (like I do) then all you need to do is build upon the product. It easily blends into the skin and does not feel cakey at all. It feels super lightweight. As well as having coconut oil in, the foundation is infused with resilient Alpine Rose, to help brighten the skin's appearance and promote elasticity. Alongside the Alpine Rose, the foundation has Hyaluronic Acid which helps balance skin for a smoother, more youthful appearance.

I tend to use this foundation for daily use because it has the coverage I need and is lightweight. So if you're looking for a foundation that makes your skin look matte, look natural and keeps your skin hydrated- then this is the product for you!

2. Double Wear Foundation, Estèe Lauder

The next foundation is the Double Wear Foundation from Estèe Lauder.

This foundation is lightweight and feels natural on the face. It does not feel cakey at all. I tend to use this foundation when I'm going out to an event or party because it lasts for ages and is full coverage. This product is suitable for all ages 16-60 and for all skin-types. When I apply it on my face, it comes out looking Matte and Natural.

If you have a big event coming up or you want a foundation that will last a full day or through humidity and heat- then this foundation is your best option.

3. Mac Studio Fix Foundation

This foundation has always been in my makeup bag since day one. I'm sure we all have that one foundation that we can rely on if we don't have anything left or if we don't know which product to use.

This foundation provides full coverage and a matte finish which is suitable for most skin types. It's very easy to apply and does not feel heavy on my skin. The good thing about this foundation, is that you don't need tons of product to apply, you only need a small amount. It blends easily into the skin using the blender, stippling brush or foundation brush.
