Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation. Is it worth the hype?

So recently, I ran out of my Too Faced Born This Way Foundation and I thought this was the perfect time to experiment and try something new. I have heard people going on and on about Charlotte Tilbury Makeup, and how amazing the products were, and thought, this is the best time to try it out.

So, I purchased the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation from Harrods for £30. For all of you that dont know, the Magic foundation was a product that took 5 years to create, with lots of research and development going into it. Maybe that's why lots of makeup artists really love to use this foundation. When you look on the Charlotte Tilbury website and you search for the foundation, the product description says a lot. The brand like to call this product a "miracle in a bottle", which has the ability to 'transform skin for all ages, tones and types'.
The foundation contains hyaluronic acid which is for hydration, laricyl mushroom extract which is for pore tightening & Vitamin C for brightening and radiance. You can get the foundation in 15 different shades. The colour of foundation the makeup artist at the counter in Harrods told me that I should use, was a 4 (If you use MAC its similar to a NC25).

The product has a full coverage, anti ageing formula which is brilliant if you like a heavier look. It's really build able so if you just like a one layered base, then you will still get that full coverage you're after; however, if you like to really cover up, then by adding a few more layers you'll be able to achieve the look you want. The foundation actually did last for a long time on my skin, and it didn't start to crack after a few hours or start to melt off my face, which is always a bonus point. The foundation also contains SPF15.
I was actually surprised the first time that I tried the foundation, because I couldn't believe how great my skin looked. I had the coverage I love, it made my face look flawless and blended really well with the other base products that I used. Another thing is, that my face felt hydrated the whole time- which is something I sometimes struggle with in foundations. I tend to have dry skin in the summer and winter seasons and when I apply makeup, it just doesn't sit well on my skin. However, this foundation felt amazing on and I certainly didn't have any dry patches on my face. Compared to some brand foundations like Estee Lauder which have a thicker feel, the Magic Foundation actually feels super lightweight, so you don't feel caked in makeup at all.

The only negative I can say about this product, is not based on certainty. The same time I bought the foundation, I bought a new primer and a cleanser. I broke out so badly with redness and spots all over my face, however I did find that if I layered the foundation on too much then my skin almost didn't like it. So it did begin to look a bit dry patchy and would begin to melt off. It sits on my skin well if I only use one layer, however if I try to build upon it- its a big fat No-No!!
Would I recommend the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation to you? Is it worth the hype?
Probably yes. It is a great foundation in the sense it gives you full coverage, its lightweight, leaves your skin looking flawless when you have makeup on and it lasts for a long time. I'd probably tell you that putting a single layer of it on would be sufficient instead of layering it- which is something Im still trying to figure out.
