Beauty Tips for Summer

When the weather changes from sweater season to tanks and shorts, not only do we need to change our clothing but we need to alter our beauty regime. To make sure that you have the tips and tricks you need this summer, keep on reading.

There are so many different ways we can keep our skin safe. First and foremost, invest in a decent skincare collection. Clear skin is key in ensuring your makeup will look even more bomb. In summer, most people don't like to pack on makeup, so if you take care of your skin first, it'll lessen the need to apply makeup and make your makeup application even better. Ensure that you invest in good cleansers, moisturisers, exfoliants, toners and the lot. If you have no idea what to buy then you can always visit a dermatologist who can give you more expert advice on how you should handle your skin in different seasons. Another way we can keep our beautiful skin even safer, is by protecting yourself from the sun. This means sun lotion (preferably SPF 30 +); and apply it generously to the skin for even coverage and protection. Protecting our skin first from the sun, is always a must; especially in places where the sun's rays are more harsh.

Now talking about makeup. There are so many ways to ensure that our makeup doesn't melt off within 10 minutes in summer. Here are some of my favourite tips and tricks that helps me.

1. Avoid Creams and Liquids

If you can, avoid cream and liquid products at all cost during the hot season. If you didn't think your makeup was melting off before, it will when you use these. I personally only use a tiny amount of liquid foundation during summers. The more creamy/liquid products you use, the more of a chance you have of looking like a shiny ball within a few hours. All the hard work you put it in to looking great, won't be looking so great in a short time. Try opting for powdered foundations or a tiny amount of liquid foundations. I personally think cream contours should be packed and put away in summer. By using too many cream/liquid products, not only will your face start to feel like it's melting off, but there is a high chance that your makeup will look like you smashed your face into cake. A big No-No! Gel eyeliners are great in Summer in comparison to liquid liners as they have less of a chance of transfer.

2. Try to Use Powders

Try to opt for powders where you can. Powders have a less chance of melting off your face and actually set your makeup into the skin well. The well known 'Baking' technique is brilliant for summer time! Powdered bronzers work so well against humidity. Powder blush, bronzers, foundations, everything!

3. Invest in a Primer

One product you definitely need in your makeup kit during the summer is Primer. Primers will extend the wear of your makeup and give it a seamless finish to your foundations and eyeshadows. You can apply primer to both your eyes and your face. Primers also create a shield preventing your skin's natural oils and foundation from mixing up. Your pores tend to open up more in warmer weather so make sure that you invest in a decent primer E.G. Smashbox Photo finish primer; it will help blur out any imperfections!

4. Go Waterproof

To avoid mascara transfer and leakage, the best way to make sure your lashes look great throughout the day/night, buy yourself a waterproof mascara. The best kinds of waterproof mascaras to wear during summer are the ones that have good-for-you oils in them. One that will nourish your eyelashes at the same time, E.G, 'Arbonnes It's A Long Story Mascara'.

5. Eyeshadow 101

To ensure your eyeshadows last much longer and don't fade away in with the sweat of summer, definitely put on some eye primer first, it'll minimise creasing. Try avoiding shimmery shadows during the summer as they can start to look really heavy and if they start to fade or leak, trust me, it won't be a pretty sight at all. This doesn't mean you can't experiment with vibrant colours. Go crazy! But best make sure your primed up first. If you want your eyeshadows to pop out even more, invest into a really good base E.G. P Louise Eye Base, Rumour. It will literally change the way your eye makeup looks!
